The IoT building forms an integral part of The Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership’s strategy of ensuring that the region can produce and sustain a highly efficient construction sector that drives best value from any inward investment. This is the second landmark building delivered as part of the Dudley College of Technology's commitment to providing 16-18 year olds in the local area with comprehensive future education provision.​

Fulcro, specialists in providing innovative and revolutionary technology solutions to the construction industry were responsible for the digital delivery of this project as part of the unique IPI Alliancing model. The Alliance won their second prestigious national award following another ground-breaking project in collaboration with Dudley College of Technology, again bringing home the award for ‘Integration and Collaborative Working’ from the 2021 Constructing Excellence National Awards.​

The intention of the IoT to continue the theme of delivering advanced engineering, including advance medical engineering meant that it would be a higher cost than the education benchmarks for schools and colleges. ​
