Dec 2015 Louise Kelly interviewed by BIM Ireland

Louise Kelly, our London based BIM manager recently did an interview with BIM Ireland, an Irish Building magazine produced in association with CitA.

In their BIM people series the magazine invites experts within the industry to share their views and knowledge on BIM. In her interview Louise discusses many topics including the challenges she faces working in this field, what her preferred BIM technologies and software are and whether she thinks BIM will significantly change the roles of architectural technicians and technologists.

Louise Kelly joined Fulcro in September 2015 with a background in architecture and engineering, and a desire to fully understand and improve the construction process. Her role as BIM Manager involves coordinating and creating models for one of our largest contracts.

“My ambition is to help improve processes to reduce waste in construction. Waste in terms of time, energy, money and resource. This is fully achievable with cutting edge BIM technologies and the right mind-set, which I believe Fulcro has, and I’m excited to be part of the team.”

Louise previously worked for a small architectural practice in Ireland, where early on in her career she was asked to project manage a number contracts worth between €1.5 – €2 million. She was also involved in researching and implementing the BIM strategy for an engineering consultancy. It was early opportunities such as these, she believes, that have given her such valuable experience and confidence in her work.

Louise is a self-confessed geek and loves all the latest gadgets and technologies. She loves competition and challenges, which she thinks comes from often being the only girl in her classes at school in Ireland. Away from work, Louise loves to unwind with a bit of baking.
