Fulcro scoop prestigious national award

Fulcro, specialists in providing innovative and revolutionary technology solutions to the construction industry, have won another prestigious national award following a ground-breaking project in collaboration with Dudley College of Technology. This time, Fulcro brought home the award for ‘Integration and Collaborative Working’ from the 2018 Constructing Excellence National Awards.

The award comes after Fulcro, as part of a team of six Alliance Partners, helped successfully deliver the landmark Advance II building as part of the Dudley College of Technology’s commitment to providing 16-18 year olds in the local area with comprehensive future education provision.

The Advance II building forms an integral part of The Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership’s strategy of ensuring that the region can produce and sustain a highly efficient construction sector that drives best value from any inward investment.

Sarah Hawkins, Director, Fulcro, said: “This was an incredibly exciting and rewarding project for Fulcro to be involved with. Advance II provided us with an opportunity to support the delivery of a truly landmark building, delivered through the first Integrated Project Insurance (IPI) Alliance contract, capping client liability for prime-cost over-runs and included the appointment of a collaborative Alliance team, incentivised to deliver innovative solutions to the Strategic Brief, on programme and within the investment target. The six party Alliance includes designers, contractors, and crucially the Client. The end product is already moulding the shining lights of tomorrow’s construction industry. The underlining philosophy of this project - that you can only teach advanced construction in an exemplar high performance, low carbon building - is one that the whole team were able to buy in to and helped us achieve some truly outstanding results for our client.

“Significantly for us, Advance II achieved 99% of the ‘targeted success criteria’, whilst exceeding targets on 23% of KPIs, including an EPC A rating, reduced carbon and energy below 80% of notional building baseline targets, and 6.5% below the initial investment target. We’re really proud of these results and this project highlighted some fantastic collaborative working between six Alliance Partners from different industries, including achieving challenging thermal performance targets.

“Ultimately, it was this synergy coupled with the extremely positive performance metrics that helped us secure this prestigious national award. This project once again highlights Fulcro’s capability to play a crucial role in ensuring that the design +construction of projects are delivered successfully, on-time and on-budget.”
